Teaching: Teaching in Government Schools: Many Himalayan families are trapped in a cycle of poverty. Living at subsistence level, parents need the labor of their children, particularly the girls, to help the family feed itself. This means that they cannot afford to release their children to attend school or college. By becoming a volunteer you will be able to make a direct and personal contribution to the education of young people in this country. In so doing, you will be having an unforgettable experience in a new and fascinating world. The system of teaching in Nepal is different. Volunteers do not need to use the same method. They will be encouraged to use their own teaching methodologies. Volunteers will stay with a Nepali family near school and will teach for about 2 to 3 hours daily for six days a week (Saturday is off). They will also be involved in teaching at youth clubs or a women’s group for informal education for 1 to 2 hours a day. School children will be 10 to 14 years of age and with basic understanding of English. Volunteers for this program will also be engaged to let the teachers know about teaching practice and improving conversational English to enable them for teaching English in the future. Volunteers will also be placed in an orphanage where they will assist the children in their day to day routine. The general role of volunteer will be to act as an older sibling; to care for, look after and encourage the children. Volunteers will teach the children general life skills. Including health and sanitation, as well as arts, crafts and music. They may also help the children with their schoolwork. Please note that only female volunteers are permitted at orphanage at present, and the placements are limited to three volunteers per month. Note: Application is not accepted from June to July and October, as school remains closed for summer vacation and Dashin festival. Though for those volunteering for longer period of time, the festival does provide a great opportunity to interact with local culture. Non-formal Education: Aged people of the rural areas of Nepal are with out basic education. They even don’t know how to read and write their names. Thus global partnership organizes various camps in such places with national and international volunteers with the aim of providing elderly education. Primary Health Care Education: Nepal is one of the most underdeveloped countries in the world. Approximately ninety percent of its over 23 million people live in rural villages, many of which are completely inaccessible by road or air. Given this adverse topography, it is not surprising that the health conditions in Nepal are among the poorest in the world. The mission of Global Partnership Organization is to provide primary health care education and healthy environment to people living in remote area. We accomplish our mission by creating and supporting programs that provide health care, including prenatal care and treatment of infectious illnesses, education programs, and income generation opportunities with the help of national as well as international volunteers. Volunteers shall be of medical field or having basic knowledge about primary health care and first aid. Global Partnership encourages local as well as international participation and involvement in all of its programs to ensure sustainability of benefits. In many Regions of Nepal the Center for Primary Health Care is established to help communities respond to health needs. It advances the ability of health systems, communities and individuals to effectively respond to health needs through the application of primary health care principles. The principles applied to advance health include consumer and community participation, self-management and reliance, intersectional collaboration and partnerships, prevention, health promotion and integrated care. The principles require the search for a balance between macro and local needs and between short and longer-term gains in health, recognition of the inequalities in health between groups and in access to policy development and resource allocation processes. Training: The reason to open this course is to assist women financially especially in the remote areas in this way they can support their families financially and can have more “saving” in their personal life. After completing three months of the course, they can make clothes, etc. It is also good for there families. All of these courses are closely connected with the development of income-creating projects that are planned for the period 2006-2007, based on a market and demand analysis. A ceramics and mosaic workshop, a flower center, and a sewing studio (producing and renting wedding costumes) are to be set up, in which the women who have been trained can work and earn their living. If some courses cannot be provided by the centers, the training needed will be organized within the framework of the project, as well as basic knowledge of bookkeeping, etc. In addition, the women will be encouraged to develop their own ideas and initiatives. Computer: In developing reason of Nepal 90% of young generation are beyond the reach of latest information technology. Computer teaching in those communities who listened but never seen a computer even now will be full of challenges. Serve people sharing your skill and enjoy looking their bright eyes full of dreams. Global Partnership now arranges 5 basic computer classes throughout the country and a capable volunteer are invited for this program. Language: In the under developed and developing reason of Nepal young people are fascinated to learn about foreign language. Though a educated Nepali youth can read and write English but by knowing other foreign language they can better off their life style as Nepal is a tourist attraction place and youth can work as guide as well. Working with local youth as a language teacher in different parts is a challenging job but enjoyable program. Volunteers can gain and give many things by this project, as this is another better way for cultural exploration. Global Partnership is arranging the English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish language classes. Research, Development & Design: Research under taken by volunteers seek various possibilities on up lifting undeveloped communities and indicate priorities for development projects.
