GENERAL INFORMATION


A Volunteer shall be of spiritual character, reliable, self-directed and properly equipped emotionally and physically for volunteer service in a somewhat primitive and austere environment. The work camp will be pleasant and enjoyable. You are always WEL-COME if you are motivated for the voluntary service to create a better world and friendship with local people and volunteers. Our intention is to reward existing volunteers and organizations, and to inspire and encourage new volunteers to get involved.

Each of our work camp has 1-2 Nepalese camp leader from Global Partnership, whose role is to act as a coordinator for the group and community people. Please do not expect too much from your leader?s, work camp shall be run and created by the whole team making it more interesting and meaningful.



Accommodation:

Global partnership has a rented home with 10 bedrooms, dinning and a kitchen. Volunteers may use this facility on arrival and departure dates and during the orientation program while they are in Kathmandu.

Volunteer will be staying in urban houses or private rented houses sometimes with a host family near to the project. In remote areas, it is very hard to manage special living room so volunteers will be sharing rooms but separate rooms will be provided to ladies and gents. Generally they will be offered Nepali food (three meals a day), which includes rice, lentil soup, vegetables curry, meat (occasionally), pickles and seasonal fruits. Sensation of humor and flexibility is needed for every volunteer during the work camps.
Volunteers can enjoy verities of food if they like to try themselves. If you are interested to enjoy your special items of food in work camp with your participants, please tell your camp leader before living from Kathmandu.


What to bring?

Normally, blankets are provided for volunteers to sleep but every time it is not easily available, that's why bring your sleeping bag, Sufficient medicine (If you are having it) mosquito net, flashing light, music and game instruments (If you want) and other materials that can be used for your comfortable involvement. Please bring some typical stuff from your country that will make the camp much more fun.

How to work ?

Every workcamps are chosen by public interest and based on Global Partnership's research. Volunteers are to be assured their responsibility and duties on voluntary. Camp leader will provide working schedule during orientation. If you have any kind of problem during your stay in Nepal you may ask for help. We are trying our best for the help.

Insurance:

Global Partnership will not provide any kind of Insurance to volunteers, so we suggest you to make adequate amount of insurance before leaving for Nepal. Please have the necessary insurance to meet your needs, however we provide the limited amount of injury and sickness insurance.

Orientation:

It is necessary for the international volunteers to become acquainted with Nepalese culture, customs and practices before they go to the work camp at the project site. For this, Global Partnership organizes an orientation program at Kathmandu immediately upon arrival of the volunteers in Nepal.
