Kathmandu Valley

Tier of green mountain walls above which mighty snowcapped peaks surrounds the Kathmandu valley. Most of the parts of this valley are developed and some are developing. The valley is made up of 3 main cities: Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. These cities are famous for the historical events and sculpture.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and this city is one of the richest cities in cultural heritage with amazing history it is said that the city was built on 724 A.D. It is situated at 1336 meters above the sea level and has covered an area of 395 square km; the total population of this city is 1,081,845. Most of the central parts are well developed where essential facilities are available and those of some peripheral parts are still rural. Volunteers will be working in rural parts as well as in urban parts. In rural part of Kathmandu city, programs will be perfomed as per community needs and in urban places volunteers will be involving in teaching, hospital, street child cares, orphanage, geriatric homes, research, cultural orientation and language program.



Patan

Patan Durbar Square like its counterpart in Katmandu valley, and is an enchanting place with artistic buildings, exquisite woodcarving, stone and metal sculpture, courtyard and graceful pagoda temples. This place is listed, as ?World Heritage Site.? (UNESCO) The royal palace complex is the center of Patan's religious and social life and houses, museum-containing array of bronze statues and religious objects, which reflect the memories of 3rd to 9th century. It is 6 Kms Southeast of Kathmandu City. The total population is 162991. The central part is somehow developing and has industrial business for tourists but this part is not much advanced. Volunteer will be involving in community awareness, school teaching, health centers, childcares, agriculture and community development, constructions, historical research program in this area. We conduct the program according to community?s needs and manual labor.



Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the 15th century Palace of 55 Windows with The National Art Gallery housed inside. The Golden Gate leading the Palace entrance is a masterpiece in repose art. Since Bhaktapur is known as an ancient city of Nepal, obviously volunteer will enjoy with its rich culture and arts. Besides Durbar Square, you can also explore the Museum, Nayatpole temple, Dattrataya temple and green field-firm, peacock windows, wood craft and Newari family life style and many historical temples and places of Bhaktapur city. It lies 14 Kms east of Kathmandu Bhakatapur covers an area of 119 square KM and its total population is 225,461. This city is not much developed but tourism is very fine here. Volunteer will be involving in community awareness, renovation and cleaning archaeological and historical sights, school teaching, health centers, childcares, agriculture and community development, constructions, historical research program in this area. We conduct the program according to community?s demand and manual labor.



Pokhara

Pokhara, the city of remarkable natural beauty which is located 200 km west to Kathmandu and it is the 2nd biggest city of Nepal where volunteers can get the serenity of Phewa Lake stunning Fish Tail summit as well as Annapurna ranges create an ambiance of peace and magic. Also 3 famous lakes: Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake and Rupa Lake decorate the city. The total population of Pokhara is 156,312. The city is one the best place for tourisms where many kinds of facilities are available. There are many marginal areas, which are away from city and underdeveloped where electricity, transportations, health services and other facilities are not available but the community people are very cooperative and helpful. Program will be performed in both area urban and rural where volunteer will be involving in different programs such as Community awareness, teaching, female empowerment, health cares, environmental sanitation, agriculture, constructions, cultural exchange, community guest, and primary health care educations programs.Volunteer will experience the lifestyle with Nepali community group and learn the new aspect of life.



Gorkha

Gorkha is the ancestral home of the Shah Dynasty, which rules Nepal today. Perched one thousand feet above Gorkha bazaar, there is a palace dominates the surroundings and is visible from all around the area and is regarded as a holy by name. The palace also boasts beautiful architecture. Volunteer can get fantastic views of lush green valleys and the Himalayan beyond. Gorkha covers an area of 3610 square km and has population of 288,134. Gorkha is famous for potato cultivation and horticulture where volunteer can practice in agriculture. This place is not advanced though the literacy rate is higher. Some facilities are available in the market area but in peripheral area limited facilities are available. The volunteer group will be performing the program according to the community demand in both market as well as peripheral areas.



Chitwan

This is the place of world?s one of the most marvelous and the oldest National Park, situated in the sub-tropical inner Terai lowlands of south ? central part of Nepal. The UNESCO enlisted the park as a World Heritage Site in 1984. The park consists of more than 43 species of mammals, 450 species of birds, 45 species of amphibians and 60 Bengal tigers. Chitwan is a bit hot place than other places which posses almost all kind of facilities. It is located 166 km southwest of kathmand and has covered an area of 2,218 square KM and has population of 472,048. Program will be lunched in both urban and rural parts according to the community demand such as community health camps, teaching environmental conservation and sanitation, working in orphanage, hospitals/ health post cultural exchange, construction community awareness etc as well as volunteer will get good chance to do research on flora and fauna.



Dharan

Dharan, the well developed and the major town in Eastern Nepal locted in the footpint of hills at the edge of the terai (plain area) it serves as a major trading centre for the hill region, althousituated on the plains. It was once the location of a British gorkha recruitment centre, opened in 1953. It is 539 km by road from Kathmandu and covers an area of 12.23 square km and has population of 95,332. The forests around Dharan are interesting to the bird watcher. Dharan town itself does not offer much to the visitor but there are many interesting places to visit around it. The town of Dharan was born when a thick jungle was cleared for a small human settlement in 1890s. Home of many different races, castes, creeds and ethnic groups, Dharan is proud to be a center of education, health, tourism and trade. And it's trying to come up not only as a model municipality in the eastern region but also in the whole of Nepal it has a very active public participation in development infrastructures: e.g. in building school, streets, and extension of drinking water supply system and in the management of the sewage. The program will be implement as per community needs and available sources such as, deaf upliftment, safe drinking wter teaching, hospital awareness, constructions etc. So volunteers will be very easy to perform the program here.



Lumbini

Lumbini the birthplace of The light of Asia, Gautam Buddha (founder of Buddhism) who was born in 623 B.C. in the famous gardens of Lumbini, which soon became a place of pilgrimage. Among the pilgrims was the Indian emperor Ashoka, who erected one of his commemorative pillars there. The site is now being developed as a Buddhist pilgrimage center, where the archaeological remains associated with the birth of the Lord Buddha form a central feature. For Buddhists, this is one of four pilgrimage sites based around the life of Gautam Buddha. Lumbini, as of 1997, is an UNESCO World Heritage Site specifically nominated for the international World heritage program.the total population of lumbini (Kapilvastu) is 481976 Volunteer aims to reduce poverty and conserve the natural and cultural heritage of Lumbini as well as provide essential needs such as health services, education, community awareness, and construction. It helps the poor communities to enhance capacity for sustainable various supports, The program has adopted ?bottom-up? and community participatory approaches. Other program will be performed as per community demand.

One can pick up for accommodation as per his budget and interest, as there is a big choice of such facilities. In the National Park generally arranged activities are-elephant ride, bird watching, nature walk, canoe ride, slide shows and cultural dances etc.
